E.on pulls out of proposed 10MW development of 280-foot wind turbines overlooking the Rhondda valley citing concerns over accoustic noise problems.
Rhondda Cynnon Taff council planning meeting of 02JUL08 has now accepted a Wind Farm development at Mynydd Portref Brynna.
Tegni Cymru presenting themselves as environmentalists at last Thursday’s RCT’s Development Committee Meeting. The energy company talked about 11 turbines, but the visual presentation by RCT Planning indicated 17. The company said that the development would meet the energy demands of 6,000 homes. But omitted to say that it would only do so if the wind blew. The statement made by a councillor that no statutory body had objected to this development apparently forgot that BCBC had already done so!. It was clear that many of the new councillors had little background knowledge of the subject. It should be noted that this proposed development is outside of the already generous TAN8 guidelines!
Host of new pylons to carry wind farm power
The Sunday Times on 03AUG08 carried an article saying that amongst plans for many more pylons across the country to cope with all the wind power generation, is a proposed new line across the beautiful countryside of mid-Wales.
Windfarms in Powys are just impossible
All windfarm planning applications for Powys will be refused because of an inadequate road network, says Powys County Council’s board member in charge of planning.
Currently Mid Wales is the focus of a number of windfarm applications, which could total as many as 19 by the end of the year.
However Councillor Wynne Jones, Powys County Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility for regeneration and development, has confirmed that without multi million pound investment in Mid Wales road network there will be no way to transport the necessary components to build the proposed windfarms.
IMPORTANT! BCBC have postponed the planning meeting (originally due 02JUL09) until probably 30JUL09. Watch our Home Page for the latest announcement. So there's STILL time to write an (another?) objection letter!
Hidden funding!
FoE's Gordon James denied FoE receives EU and other Govt funding!

"Last year, Friends of the Earth Europe received 50% of their funding from the EU and EU national governments a high proportion for a "non-governmental organisation". Despite receiving € 635,000 from the Commission, they were initially very highly critical of our car CO2 emission proposals."
So make up your own mind!
Members of SWATT and local residents met our local MP Huw Irranca-Davies to discuss planning consent problems - he said he would help as far as he could.

At the Determination meeting on 27th August, BCBC decided that the
two windfarm applications, and the joint access track, should go ahead.
All our objections were swept aside, in spite of several councellors
rational objections.
There are 54 councellors in BCBC, just 12 attended the meeting
and 9 voted for the proposals, that's 17%!
It was the holiday season, so that's an excuse for many to not attend.
What a pity that rational argument was not allowed to be considered!
