The Green Valley Action Group

The Green Valley Action Group (GVAG) was established in 2009 when the villagers of Gilfach Goch and Evanstown became aware of the potential threat of their homes being surrounded by Wind Turbines two and a half times the size of the existing ones erected to the south of Gilfach Goch. Along with the established Taff Ely Wind farm Bridgend council and RCT have so far granted permission to erect Forty five Turbines to the South, the West and to the North of Gilfach goch and Evanstown, if granted the Fforch nest Wind.
We meet in the Gilfach Goch Community Center (contact us for details).

Current Situation

GVAG have been opposing the part of the Fforch Nest Application which lies in Rhondda Cynon Taff for 7Turbines since it was proposed.
On 9th November 2010 a long campaign which had the backing of over 1200 residents and was enthusiastically endorsed by Local Councillor Aurfron Roberts came to fruition when RCT Councillors rejected the application by an overwhelming majority.
A further planning meeting on 23rd February 2011 endorsed the decision of the November meeting, again by an overwhelming majority.
Shortly after this latter meeting NPower, the developers announced they would appeal to the Welsh Government against RCT's decision.
